Fun Facts...

• I am the oldest in my family with 4 younger brothers and a sister. I was an only child until the first year of high school when the oldest of my brothers was born.  My sister, the youngest of my siblings, was born a month after I graduated from high school. (And a neat coincidence - the age gap between my sister and myself is exactly the same as the age gap between her and my first child!)

• 2009 was the year my photography journey began, but it was 2015 when I did my first newborn session that a lightbulb practically exploded over my head, and I knew that THIS was what I wanted to do more than anything else in the whole entire world

• My business name comes from the special place honeybees hold in my heart.  My grandpa was a beekeeper in his retirement, and he was a very special person in my life. My brothers and sister and cousins have all found ways over the years to incorporate honeybees into our lives, I chose to make them a part of my business to honour a man who was an amazing grandfather, as well as an entrepreneur himself.

• I am an obsessive DIY'er - I knit, I crochet, I sew.  I am terrible at carpentry and anything that requires exact measurements, and straight lines elude me at every turn ;)

• It's an ongoing joke with my friends that I am constantly on the lookout for things that I can put babies in

• I have a deep abiding love for graphic tees and bad puns, and I'm especially happy when they're combined

• I'm terrible at most sports, but I love running

• I love coffee

• When I find a new skill I want to master I obsessively study it until I figure it out and master it

• I try to give back to my community as much as I can, which led me to the volunteer work I'm most proud of, my work as an Associate Photographer with Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep which is a wonderful organization that provides the gift of remembrance photography for parents suffering the loss of a baby.

I was the first photographer in Canada to be certified in Newborn Safety by the AANPS - the American Association of Newborn Photography Safety.

• I recently applied for and received designation as a Qualified Newborn Photographer with APNPI  (Accredited Professional Newborn Photographers International), and am working towards accreditation.

"So, that's just dandy and all," you may be thinking to yourself "but what does that do for me? Why does that make you the photographer for me?"

Well, I'm glad you asked!

Spending my youth with not one or two, but 5 baby siblings means that the care, handling, and love of babies is second nature to me. It came in handy when I had my own children, and it helps me every day in my work with babies and children.

Having a strong desire to specialize in newborn and babies/children means that I'm not a Jack of all trades, master of none.  My focus and attention is on being the best I possibly can in these genres, and I am constantly upgrading my learning, whether by travelling to seminars and workshops in person, or learning online.  I always want to be better so I can provide you with beautiful images without compromising the safety of your precious loved one.

Making most of my own props means that your session will be unique, and special to you.  I discuss your preferences with you in depth to make sure that I am creating a session that you will love, and that isn't identical to every other session you've seen in your search.  I want you to fall in love with your images, I want to make you smile, and cry a little, and when that happens, I know I've done my job well.

And most of all, I don't just want to be a person you come to once and never think of again.  I love the time I spend with your babies and children, and nothing makes me happier than the privilege of photographing them over and over and watching them grow up.
